Renowned US agriculture scientist joins SKUAST-K as adjunct faculty

Srinagar: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir has inducted a distinguished agriculture scientist and renowned landscape architect from Purdue University, USA, Prof KG Raghothama as honourary adjunct faculty.
Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K, Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai handed over an offer letter to Prof Raghothama in his office chambers at SKUAST-K today.
KG Raghothama, a renowned horticulture and landscape architecture professor at Purdue University, Indiana, USA, is an established researcher in plant nutrition, especially the molecular mechanisms of phosphorus starvation in plants. In addition to his current position, he has served as Associate Director of International Programmes at this top agriculture university in the USA.
Prof Raghothama has also led several international R&D projects in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
While presenting the offer letter to Dr Raghothama, Prof Ganai said his engagement with SKUAST-K as adjunct faculty will open up new areas of collaboration, especially in horticulture and landscaping, and create opportunities for faculty and student exchange.
Prof Raghothama is currently on a four-day visit to SKUAST-K to interact with faculty and students to explore areas of mutual interest for collaboration between SKUAST-K and Purdue University.
During the last three years, SKUAST-K has empanelled several distinguished science leaders across the world as honorary adjunct faculty to add to the diversity of faculty in tune with the objectives of IDP and NEP 2020.
