Two-day skill dev workshop on bakery technology held at IUST

Awantipora: The Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development (CIED), Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), in collaboration with the Department of Food Technology, IUST, organised a two-day Bakery Skill Development Workshop. Cream Bell and Shalimar Bakery were the industrial partners of the event. The workshop inaugurated by Dean Research Prof A.H. Moon was attended by students, professionals and bakery enthusiasts. The workshop covered various topics, including advanced baking techniques, pastry making, cake decoration, and bakery business management
Mr Joseph Lawrence, a renowned chef and NSDC approved Master Trainer with extensive expertise in bakery and confectionery was the Master trainer. Participants had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and receive practical guidance from Mr. Lawrence, making it a truly immersive learning experience.
In the valedictory session, Prof. A. H. Moon, reiterated the vision of Vice Chancellor IUST, Prof Shakil Ahmad Romshoo towards skilling, promoting innovation and making multidisciplinary part of mainstream education in line with NEP 2020. He also appreciated the role of Director CIED and FT department in organizing such workshops with Industry collaborations to promote entrepreneurship and start-up culture amongst IUST students.
Director CIED, Dr. Parvez Ahmad Mir, said that Innovation and entrepreneurship are the mantra for progress and prosperity. He highlighted various initiatives taken by CIED IUST in spreading the awareness among different sections of society as well as extended support to the incubates under the seed grant scheme. Among others Dr Tariq Ganie , Dr Darakshan Majid ,Dr Basharat Nabi, Dr Amir Dar, Dr Tahmeed Aijaz from the department of Food Technology also deliberated during the workshop.
