Pampore: A specially-abled girl from Awantipora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district is setting a high example for others to emulate. Tehzeeba Hilal, a visually impaired girl, is leading students from darkness to light.
Tehzeeba, a 12th-class student at Government Higher Secondary School Lethpora, is imparting computer education to visually impaired students in Awantipora and Lethpora.
Apart from computer skills, Tehzeeba has a melodious voice and is a good Naat reciter. She has great memory power and is memorising the holy book of Qur’an by heart. Her teachers describe her as a multitalented and ambitious student who has set an example for others.
Talking to Kashmir Reader, Tehzeeba said she learned computers through her own efforts. “I am teaching students at my home and the school,” she said, adding that in addition to this, she has been conducting two online sessions each working day for visually-impaired students from different parts of the country and other neighbouring countries.
“I deliver lectures through ZOOM and Google Meet to two batches, one consisting of 56 and the other of 36 students,” she said, adding that she has to face a lot of challenges.
Tehzeeba wants to continue her studies to pursue her dream of becoming an IAS officer. “I want to become an IAS officer to serve my country and to the community of specially-abled persons,” she said.
She pursued her basic schooling at Zeba Aapa School Bijbehara and Mantaqi Memorial Trust Awantipora.
Talking to Kashmir Reader Chief Education Officer Pulwama Abdul Qayoom Nadvi, who felicitated Tehzeeba during a function at her school in Lethpora, said that she is a gifted girl having a lot of talent.
“Having such a talent is a miracle,” he said, adding that she not only learned computers but is teaching other students.
“Today she delivered a lesson here and I desired to be one of her students,” the CEO said, adding that they should look for such students and pay them special attention.
