Auqaf Jama Masjid pays tributes to Imam Hussain (RA), Karbala Martyrs

Srinagar: Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid on behalf of its head Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who is under house arrest since August 5, 2019, has paid glorious tribute to the Martyrs of Karbala especially Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) – the beloved grandson of the beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) – for their great and historic sacrifices.
The Anjuman in its tribute said that to safeguard the thought (belief), teachings and basic tenets of Islam, Hazrat Imam Aali Muqaam (RA), on 10 Muharram-ul-Haram 61 Hijri, along with his brave associates expressed such valour and sacrifice which will continue to guide the entire humanity till the last day.
Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) by refusing to surrender before tyrants (falsehood) set an example which acts as torchbearer for those striving for truth (Haq), till the Day of Judgement, the Anjuman said, adding that the exemplary sacrifices of the Martyrs of Karbala will always guide the Muslims as Imam Aali Muqaam’s (RA) martyrdom in the scorching desert of Karbala is a glorious chapter in the history of Islam and humanity.
Meanwhile, the Auqaf in a statement said that it was a tradition since centuries of the Mirwaizeen to visit Alam Sahib Shrine in Narwara and highlight the significance of Muharram-ul-Haram and pay tribute to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the Martyrs of Karbala. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq too used to visit the shrine and throw light on Ashura but due to his continuous house detention, all this could not be possible this year as well, it said
Meanwhile, Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid said, “Today marks the 205th consecutive Friday when Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir was neither allowed to perform the important duty of performing Friday prayers nor to carry out his religious duties, which is extremely sad and condemnable.”
“Not releasing the Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir despite the continuous demand by the people, religious, political & social circles, and civil society, is a tragedy, and also a challenge for the champions of justice and democracy,” the Anjuman said.
