KU’s South Campus organises conference on inclusive education

Anantnag: To raise awareness about the equitable rights of specially abled children and the importance of inclusive education as a catalyst to unlock unique abilities of learners, Kashmir University’s South Campus on Monday organised a day-long conference here.
The faculty, officials, scholars and students from the campus and students from Zaiba Appa Institute of Inclusive education, Bijbehara attended the day-long conference.
While expressing his delight at hosting the conference on this vital issue, Director, South Campus, Prof. Raies Ahmad Qadri said that education inclusivity lies at the core of our educational philosophy. He stressed on all the participants to be sensitive about such students & extend every possible support for their progress.
Lauding the efforts of Zaiba Appa Institute of Inclusive Education, Bijbehara for grooming the specially abled students at large, Deputy Inspector General of Police, South Kashmir, Rayees Muhammad Bhat underscored the significance of embracing diversity in educational institutions and the vital role inclusive education plays in nurturing holistic development among students.
Highlighting the challenges faced by differently abled students and sharing evidence-based practices to create a supportive and accessible learning environment for specially abled students, renowned social worker and Padma Shri awardee, Javaid Ahmad Tak underlined the rights of specially abled people and their implementation in line with ‘The Persons with Disabilities Act 1995’.
Noted social worker, Dr. Reyaz Ahmad Ganie highlighted the importance of creating an inclusive educational ecosystem that empowers students with diverse abilities.
A range of activities like dancing, skit and instrumental music were also performed by the students of Zaiba Appa Institute of Inclusive Education, Bijbehara.
Earlier, Dr. Javaid Iqbal Bhat, who is looking after the student welfare, gave a detailed account and importance of holding such conferences.
Saleh Manzoor from the Department of Management Studies conducted the proceedings of the event, while Assistant Director, Department of Physical Education, Tausif Bhat presented the formal vote of thanks.
