Police observe International Day against drug abuse

SRINAGAR: On the eve of International Day against Drug abuse and illicit Trafficking, J&K Police observed series of events at various police establishments across Kashmir. Besides, various rallies and police-public meetings were also organised at various places to aware the youth as well as society from drugs & its ill effects. A fine to the tune of Rs 11,900 was also realised from shopkeepers for selling tobacco products near to educational institutions in a special drive.
On International Day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking, Anti-Narcotics Task Force J&K Police in collaboration with Kashmir Road Safety Foundation organized an awareness event and drug free rally in Poloview Srinagar in which students, officials and locals of the area participated. SSP Anti-Narcotics Task Force Raj Kumar said that together we can curb this menace of drugs and such awareness programs are important for the society.
Live demonstration of Calisthenics and Martial Art promoting the culture of fitness among youngsters was also displayed. After the demonstration, all the participants and officials carried out drug free rally which started from Polo-view Market and ended in Press Colony Srinagar. At the conclusion of the event SSP Anti-Narcotics Task Force J&K along with all the participants took pledge to stay away from drugs and also work against the drugs.
In Baramulla, the main event was organised at Govt Degree College Pattan in which DIG NKR Baramulla Vivek Gupta-IPS was chief guest. SSP Baramulla Amod Ashok Nagpure-IPS, Principal GDC Pattan Tasleema Bano, SP Hqrs Baramulla, SDPO Pattan, DySP DAR Baramulla, SHO PS Pattan, IC Police Drug De-addiction Centre Baramulla, Pharmacist PDDC Baramulla, Health worker PDDC Baramulla, teaching and non-teaching staff of GDC Pattan, student of various schools in addition to students of GDC Pattan also participated in the event.
In Handwara, police organised awareness rallies and seminars at various places to generate awareness about drug abuse and its impact on society. Participants were urged to promote healthy living and shun substance abuse.
In Awantipora, the day was observed at various Police establishments and institutions by means of organizing awareness rallies/debates & seminars all across the Police District. The banners and placards on ill-effects of drug abuse were displayed at prominent public places to aware the youth as well as society to stay away from drugs & about the ill effects of the drug abuse.
Similarly, in Pulwama, Police organised rallies on drug abuse at Pulwama, Rajpora, Lassipora and Kakapora with students of various schools. The rallies were conducted with the collaboration of various schools.
