JKSA demands probe into death of Kashmiri student in West Bengal

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) on Tuesday demanded a probe into the mysterious death of a Kashmiri student at a college in Kolkata, West Bengal.
In a statement, the JKSA National General Secretary Faizaan Peer said that the association has already contacted the authorities in West Bengal and brought the matter to their attention.
He emphasized the need for a fair investigation into the incident that took place at the Budge Institute of Technology, Kolkata, popularly known as BBIT. He requested the authorities to intervene in order to ensure that the investigation reaches a logical conclusion.
The association has received assurances of assistance from the authorities, who have promised to provide all necessary support to expedite the investigation, Peer said.
The JKSA has appealed to the Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee to constitute a team to probe the mysterious death of the Kashmiri student. It has also urged the Central government to take necessary measures to ensure foolproof security for Kashmiri students across various states in the country.
“The association believes that it is crucial to safeguard Kashmiri students from any form of harassment or mistreatment,” the statement said.
