CBC organises seminar, plantation drive on ‘Mission Life’

Srinagar: The Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Govt of India, Field Office Kathua organised an impressive programme at Govt Girls Hr. Sec School Kathua. A large number of audience including community members, PRI members, community leaders and officers from different departments attended the programme.
The programme started with Saraswati Vandana presented by the students of Govt Girls Hr. Sec School Kathua followed by the welcome address by Rajesh Sharma In-charge CBC Kathua/Jammu. In his welcome address, Sharma threw light on various activities undertaken by CBC across India and especially in J&K, Ladakh. He urged the audience to keep their surroundings clean and tidy. Talking about “Mission Life” he said that this is a special initiative of government with an aim to bring a lifestyle change for saving our environment.
The aim of this initiative is to turn its vision in to observable effects for the protection of environment. He also mentioned the entry of India in to “Amrit Kaal” and efforts Indian citizens should make to realise the reality of emerging India.
In his address, Parkash Lal Thappa Chief Education officer Kathua said that these kind of programmes are important to aware the common masses. “In India, we have been considering our environment as our mother. Keeping our environment clean is a big challenge now a day when we have different types of pollutions being emitted everywhere. The only thing which can bring the positive changes is behavioural changes for protection of environment,” he said. He praised the efforts of CBC Kathua for organising such programmes and urged that more such programmes should be organised in far flung school of Kathua.
Neeraj Bhargaw (KAS) District Information Officer Kathua gave threadbare information about the ill effects of different types of pollutions. He urged the audience to save the energy and use CFL/Tube lights in place of incandescent light bulbs. He stressed to switch off the vehicles at traffic lights and railway crossings in order to save the energy. Others who spoke on the occasion were Dr Pankaj and Sh Kapil Jasrotia.
Later on, plantation drive in collaboration District Forest Officer Kathua was carried out in the premises of the school in which large number of tree saplings were distributed among the students. On the occasion a pledge for protection of environment was also administered.
During the programme, a drawing competition was also organised on the topic of Lifestyle for Environment. The programme culminated with Open quiz on Mission LiFE, felicitations and light refreshment.
