Army organises youth panchayat

Srinagar: A youth panchayat was organised by Indian Army at Dudi for villages of Dudi and Thalli. 41 Males and 25 Females attended the YP along with Sarpanch and other important members of civil society.
The aim of this youth panchayat was to empower youth of these villages and make them equal stakeholders in development of their villages, said PRO Defence Srinagar in a statement.
He said youth were initially introduced to the concept of YP and how it can empower them take control of their and their societies’ future. Youth were upbeat about the idea and agreed to take action and become self-reliant.
“Challenges of their villages along with the actions which can be taken by youth to ameliorate them were discussed. Two male and two female leaders were elected to be the voice of youth of these villages,” he said.
