Attends block diwas at Rahmoo, Inspects JJM Works & PHC Rahmoo
Pulwama: Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Department Pulwama, in collaboration with allied Departments, on Wednesday organized an awareness cum sensitization programme to carry out Farmers’ orientation during Kisan Sampark Abhiyan under Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP). The programme was convened by the District Administration led by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Dr Basharat Qayoom.
Addressing the participants, DC said that the launch of Kisan Sampark Abhiyan in all panchayats of Pulwama is to educate farmers on various issues, including business management, entrepreneurship and government schemes. It aims to involve Farmers, Panchayati Raj Institutions and youth to transform Agriculture and allied sectors and celebrate ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ as part of the programme, he added.
The DC urged the representatives of PRIs and other stakeholders to ensure larger participation throughout the three month long Abhiyan to avail benefits under HADP.
He added that awareness camps are being organized in each panchayat across the district to sensitize and acquaint farmers with opportunities offered under different schemes of Agriculture and allied sectors under HADP.
Under the programme, IT platform has been launched which is a one-stop dashboard to avail all farmers-related services and schemes of the government with a facility for online application and approval.
The online system also provides timely sector-wise, region-wise and crop-wise advisories to registered farmers through SMS, irrespective of whether they have undergone any course or not, he said.
Dr Basharat encouraged the officers to educate the farmers about the programme and ensure the availability and increased participation of farmers and Panchayati Raj Institution members.
He said the significant initiative will ensure effective & efficient implementation of projects under Holistic Development of Agriculture & Allied Sectors. Kisan Sampark Abhiyan with help of PRIs focusing on farmers’ orientation, skilling courses for all interventions, will ensure the meticulous plan reaches the fields and prepare our farmers to meet new challenges, explore new possibilities and make farming accessible and profitable, he added.
Later, DC made inspection of PHC Rahmoo, took stock of under construction developmental work and directed the concerned executing agencies to ensure resolution of protracted infrastructure issues in stipulated time frame to facilitate the patients visiting the PHC for their treatment.
DC also visited and inspected ongoing work of the Filtration Plant of PHE coming up at an estimated cost of Rs.78.54 lakh. He exhorted upon the concerned agencies for its completion and said that any kind of laxity will not be tolerated at all and emphasized for making sure of providing a portable drinking water facility to the inhabitants of village Rahmoo and people of adjoining areas.
Earlier, a Mobile Van of Department of Animal Husbandry was also dedicated by the DC which will provide doorstep facilities to the farmers whose animals need emergency treatment by dialing toll free number.
Likewise, Block Diwas was also conducted in other subdivisions of the district where people projected their demands and other issues of public importance, which were heard patiently and assured for early redressal.
Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, other District/ Sectoral Heads of various departments, Tehsildar Rajpora, BDO, senior citizens and other concerned were also present.
