Advisory for snow, hail affected orchards

SRINAGAR: There has been untimely snowfall coupled with hailstorm in some districts of South Kashmir viz. Anantnag, Kulgam and Shopian. It has also resulted in dip in mercury.
“This will tell upon the fruit set particularly in those areas where the orchards are in full bloom and it may also result in premature fruit drop and spread of various diseases,” the Horticulture Department said on Monday.
In view of this, farmers are hereby advised to follow the mentioned recommendations in mitigating the effects of snowfall/hail storm and prevent/eradicate the infection of various diseases in their orchards:
Farmers should shake the trees immediately and should not allow the snow to accumulate on the branches, drain-out the accumulated snow/rain water through drainage channels, and spray any of the given fungicides immediately, after the improvement of weather:
Zineb 68% + Hexaconazole 4% 72 WP @100g/100lts of water
OR
Tubeconazole(6.7%)+Captan(26.9)33.6SC @250mls/100 lts. of water
OR
Fluxapyroxad 250g/l + Pyraclostrobin 250g/l 500SC @20mls/100lts of water
After a gap of 3 days, spray Urea @ 0.2% (200 g per 100 litre of water).
Remove the fallen fruitlets and leaves from the orchards immediately.
Spray during dry and cool hours.
Preferably use mist sprays.
