Ganderbal: As a part of Civic Action Programme, Police organised seminar/awareness programme against drug addiction at Townhall Ganderbal. The seminar was chaired by SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar along with DySP Headquarters Ganderbal Gh Hassan. The seminar was attended by teachers, respectable citizens, media fraternity, students of Degree College Ganderbal and various other schools of the district.
SSP Ganderbal on the occasion said that the cooperation of the people is pivotal to eradicate the severe menace of drugs from the society. He asked the students that police is ready to help them in promoting sports and games. “Drug addiction is a social crime and cooperation of the public is necessary,” he said and stressed upon the participants to share all information related to drugs and its peddling in the area with concerned police units so that police can act swiftly.
He also appealed to the participants to extend their help in identifying drug addicts in their localities so that they can be counselled in better ways with the help of Drug De-addiction Centres.
DySP Hqrs Ganderbal also spoke about the sensitive topic of Drugs & its Addiction. He also highlighted the role of school management in identifying such cases and their role in treatment process thereof. Moreover, Psychiatrist Dr. Umar Jan also spoke about the psychological and social aspects of Drug Addiction.
Moreover, various dignitaries, Social Activists, Artists and Students both Boys & Girls of different Schools of the District also threw light on this burning issue i.e. “Drug Addiction & its negative causes”.
