Defunct street lights give tough time to Hajin people

Hajin: The shopkeepers and residents of Hajin town expressed strong resentment over the failure of authorities to repair defunct street lights in the town that too in the holy month of Ramadhan.
The locals said the dysfunctional street lights cause inconvenience to them during dark hours.
Talking to Kashmir Reader, Noor Mohammad said that major street lights of the town are dysfunctional and authorities are unmoved to fix the problems.
He said that it gets difficult for them to go to mosques during dark hours, particularly at Iftar and Sehri times in this holy month. It is shocking that authorities are acting as mute spectators and not bothering to fix the street lights in Ramadhan, he said.
Another local said that these street lights were cut during the installation of meters in the area and since they were not repaired by the authorities.
“Due to darkness, we are not able to go to mosques in darkness as it could lead to serious accidents,” he said, adding that many of the roads and footpaths are already in terrible condition in the town.
Walking on these roads without proper lighting is not possible for old aged persons as roads are already full of potholes, said Mushtaq Ahmad a trader.
Locals have appealed to Deputy Commissioner Bandipora to look into the matter personally.
