Congress has strong base in all J&K regions, will form next govt: Vikar Rasool

PULWAMA: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee president Vikar Rasool Wani on Thursday said the party will win with a “majority” and form the next government in J&K as it has a “strong” base in all the regions of the Union Territory.
“From Bani Basoli to Rajouri, Pirpanchal and Kashmir Valley, Congress has a strong cadre,” he said, adding, “In the coming days, we will make it further strong.”
Leading the ‘Hath Se Hath Jodo’ programme in Kandi Aglar Pulwama, Vikar Rasool said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is delaying elections in Jammu & Kashmir for “fear of losing” it.
“BJP has not provided any relief to the people but added to their woes by imposing property tax and snatching their land,” he said.
“When congress will form the government in J&K, we will give top priority to waive off loans of farmers, provide employment and also waive electricity bills,” he promised.
The Congress president was accompanied by party vice president G N Monga, General Secretary Bashir Ahmad Khan, Congress office in-charge Mohammad Anwar Bhat and other workers.
A rally was also carried out which was led by a group of artists beating drums.
Talking to Kashmir Reader, Vikar Rasool said the aim of today’s Haath Se Haath Jodo programme was to talk to people about three issues raised by Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
“We spoke about communal hatred, inflation and unemployment,” he said, adding that in the past days, they raised issues like the eviction of land, rising unemployment, restoration of statehood and withdrawal of property tax.
