DGP sanctions Rs 2.16 cr welfare loan for police personnel

Jammu: With an aim to provide financial succor to the serving police personnel, the Director General of Police, J&K, Dilbag Singh has sanctioned rupees 2.16 crore as Welfare loan/relief for serving Police personnel. He has also sanctioned rupees 1.10 crore as Special Welfare Relief/ ex-gratia relief in favour of 06 martyr/deceased Police personnel/SPO.
“DGP has sanctioned welfare loan of Rupees 1.5 lakh each in favour of 68 serving Police personnel for marriage of their son/daughter and rupees one lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of 93 Police personnel for self marriage/marriage of their son/daughter. Rupees 1.5 lakh each has also been sanctioned in favour of 21 police personnel for professional education of their wards. Rupees 50 thousand each has been sanctioned in favour of two police personnel,” a police statement issue here said. The grant of Welfare Relief/loan is sanctioned out of Central Police Welfare Funds. The loan amount will be recovered from Police personnel in 20 equal installments.
Meanwhile, DGP has sanctioned rupees 38 lakh as ex-gratia relief in favour of NoK of Martyr Constable Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh who was killed in a militant attack. “He has also sanctioned special welfare relief of rupees 22 lakh each in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased police personnel HC Shiv Darshan Singh, SgCt. Ab Rashid Khanday and SgCt Parvaiz Ahmad who expired during service due to health-related issues besides special relief of Rupees 6 lakh has also been sanctioned in favour of NoK of deceased SPO Romesh Kumar who expired due to illness during the course of his engagement with the department. The financial assistance has been given out of the Contributory Police Welfare Fund,” the statement said.
