5 vehicles seized for illegal extraction of sand, boulders in Tral, Awantipora

PAMPORE: The Geology and Mining Department Pulwama seized five vehicles for transportation of illegally extracted minerals including sand and boulders in Tral and Awantipora areas of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district during night raids on Saturday.

A team from the Geology and Mining Department led by District Mineral Officer, Pulwama Majid Aziz seized five vehicles involved in illegally extracted minerals at Aripal Tral and Awantipora areas of Pulwama district during late-night raids, officials told Kashmir Reader.

The raids were conducted at two spots – Aripal Tral and Awantipora areas of the Pulwama district. The team seized 5 vehicles including 03 Tippers, and 02 tractors found involved in the illegal carriage of sand and Nallah Boulders, they said.

The Geology and Mining Department Pulwama has already issued a strict warning to those who are involved in the illegal extraction of minor minerals to avoid this illegal practice. The officials warned that strict action under the law will be taken against the violators.
