Agri Deptt’s district-level orientation training under APEX projects begins

Srinagar: District level orientation cum training programme under Holistic Development of Agriculture started on Monday for district Srinagar at Directorate of Horticulture, Rajbagh Srinagar. The inaugural session was attended by Director Extension SKUAST- Kashmir Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi, Director Horticulture Kashmir G. R. Mir (JKAS), Director Agriculture Kashmir, Mohd. Iqbal Chouadry, Sr. Scientist & Head Dr. Sajad Mouhideen, Chief Horticulture Officer Srinagar V.K. Gupta, resource persons Dr. Reis Ahmad Wani from KVK Srinagar Mohammad Amin Bhat DLSMS form directorate of horticulture Kashmir, Saima Hameed DLSMS, KVK Scientists, HDOs along with Horticulture technicians of the district Srinagar.

The Director Horticulture after welcoming the guests and trainees presented the overall review of programmes with special reference on today’s training program titled “Designer Plants for Promotion of High-Density Plantation and Rejuvenation of Orchards”.

In his speech, he said that the project will be a game changer in the overall development of Horticulture sector in Jammu and Kashmir. “The project has been designed in consonance with the available resources, opportunities, technological interventions, and desirable targets,” he said and stressed upon the trainees to work with full zeal and dedication for achievement of results in implementing the targets on ground.

The Director Agriculture also presented his remarks about this Apex Project and highlighted its importance in uplifting the socio-economic status of the farming community in UT of Jammu & Kashmir.

Director Extension SKUAST-Kashmir presented words of wisdom wherein he stressed for the adoption of holistic approach in order to achieve the main goal of this project. Later, the resource persons made the presentation and threadbare deliberations were held during the training session and all the doubts of the trainees were addressed on spot. The trainees participated with full dedication and attention in the training programme.
