Hajin: Like other parts of the UT, the 74th Republic Day was celebrated at Hajin with enthusiasm, traditional fervor and gaiety here on Thursday.
The main function was held at Muncipal Committe Hajin, where Chairman Municipal Committe Hajin Irshad Ahmad Wani was the chief guest. He unfurled the National Flag and took salute at the March past, Presented by the contingents of JKP, JKAP, IRP, CRPF, NCC cadets and School Children.
Dysp Hajin Rameez Rashid SHO Hajin, Qaiser Ahmad, Inspector Aadil Mir, Deputy Chairman Waseem Parray, ZEO Hajin, GDC Principal Hajin Dr. Peer Zahoor Ahmad, Principal Higher Secondary School Hajin, Senior Civil, Police and Army Officers, and government employees were present on the occasion.
Later, students of various schools, Youth Services and Sports presented a scintillating cultural bonanza on the occasion. The programme received a great applause from the audience particularly.
Irshad Wani congratulated the people on the eve of 74th Republic Day. Addressing the function, the Chairman MC gave the historical background of the Republic Day and said that it is the most significant day in the history of the country as the country has become Republic on this day and the Constitution of India, the basic framework of governance framed by great leader B.R. Ambedkar was implemented from this day.
Irshad highlighted the achievements of the town under various sectors besides effective implementation of various centrally sponsored schemes and flagship programmes under, PM KISAN, PMAY, PMGSY, NABARD projects. Later, he gave away the prizes to contingents and students who performed best in the parade and cultural programme.
On the occasion, Gowhar Maqbool of Kashmir Reader, Ziad bin Bashir of JK Prime Post were awarded with certificates and trophies for their commendable performance in the field of journalism and highlighting public issues.
