JKAACL pays homage to Prof. Rehman Rahi

Srinagar: Bereaved by the loss, the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL), under the guidance of Bharat Singh (JKAS), Secretary (JKAACL), has paid rich tributes to the renowned writer/poet critic Jnanpith Awardee Professor Rehman Rahi at the Conference room of Tagore Hall in Srinagar.
The event was presided over by Prof. Bashar Bashir, a noted writer of the region; G. R. Sufi, Former Chief information commissioner, as the Chief Guest Professor Farooq Fayaz, former Director, UGC Academic Staff College, University of Kashmir; as Guest of Honour of the occasion. Dr. Farooq Anwaar Mirza, Incharge Divisional Office Kashmir (DOK) of JKAACL was also present as host.
At the outset of the event, Dr. Farooq Anwar Mirza, Incharge officer DOK (JKAACL), presented a warm welcome to the noble gathering. After the welcome address, the speakers ardently highlighted the invaluable contributions of Professor Rehman Rahi to the audience. Mohd Amin Bhat, President Adbi Markaz Kamraz; Prof Shafi Simble; Gulshan Badrani; Dr Hasrat Hussan; Prof Majrooh Rashid; Inayat Gul; Mohi ud Din Reshi; Shakeel Ur Rehman; Imdad Saqi, Waheed Jeelani and Inayat Gul were among the key speakers who valued the contribution.
The event witnessed the presence of Dildar Ashraf Shah, Dr Syed Iftikhar, Dr Abid Ahamd, Dr Shabnam Rafiq, Salim Salik, Tariq Shaira, Maqbool Sajid and Jameel Ansari Towards the culmination, Jawaid Iqbal Khan, Editor Kashmiri (JKAACL), addressed the congregational Fateh Khawani of Professor Rehman Rahi, and expressed a sincere vote of thanks to the audience; while addressing the audience, he announced that JKAACL, shall soon publish special issue of Sheeraza Kashmiri on Professor Rehman Rahi. He also said that JKAACL is deeply saddened by the loss of Prof. Rahi. Dr Gulzar Ahmad Rather, Assistant Editor Kashmiri (JKAACL), conducted the proceedings of the event.
