Awareness prog on Road Safety Week held at Awantipora

PAMPORE: A programme was held in connection with National Road Safety week at toll plaza Charsoo in the Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The programme was organized by RAMKY Constructions Private Limited and the National Highway Authority of India (NHA) in collaboration with the local administration. During the programme awareness about safe driving was given to drivers from different areas.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Awantipora Zaffar Husson Shawl served as chief guest while SHO Awantipora Mohammad Younis Khan, Manager National Highway Authority of India Anil Ji, Manager RAMKY Mohammad Maqbool, Traffic officials and health department were present on the occasion.
“We are observing National Road Safety Week to create a wide awareness about safe driving so that we all remain safe from unwanted accidents,” the ADC Awantipora told Kashmir Reader, adding that a driver does not look only for his safety but also the safety of other person coming from the opposite side.
He added that for road safety development of roads is very essential and the government is working on building the necessary infrastructure.
ADC Awantipora said the public should inform themselves of various traffic rules and regulations and these should be strictly followed.
Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India is observing Road Safety Week from January 11 to 17 to raise awareness about the need for safe driving.
During the week, various activities were organised throughout the Ccuntry to create awareness among the general public and to give an opportunity to all stakeholders to contribute to the cause of road safety.
