Budgam: A Skill training for Rural Youth (STRY) on Quality Seed Production of Cereals started at KVK Budgam SKUAST-Kashmir.
The programme is being organized with SAMETI, Kashmir, Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-Kashmir and sponsored by MANAGE, Hyderabad. STRY training programmes are aimed to impart skill to the rural youth for employment and creation of skill manpower to perform farm and non-farm operations. The training programme was attended by 28 rural youth of the district and scientists of the Kendra. The training coordinator, Dr. Sabia Akhter, presented a general overview about quality seed production of cereals. Dr. Bhinish Shakeel spoke about entrepreneurship development among rural youth as the best foot forward towards livelihood security.
During the training programme, the participants shall be apprised about the scientific know-how of quality seed production of major cereals crops grown under temperate conditions of Kashmir, management of disease, pest and post-harvest handling of cereal crops.
