Hajin family living in a Doongha escape unhurt after dwelling sinks in Jhelum

Hajan: At least nine family members had miracalus escape after their doongha (boat used for dwelling ) sank in river Jehlum at Hajin town of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district on intervening night of Sunday- Monday .
Officials said that a family of nine members was rendered homeless after its capcise.
House Owner Mehraj ud din Guroo while talking to reporters said that around 3 am they noticed that water entered the houseboat and it started tilting and sinking.
“I first hurriedly evacuated my family members from the houseboat to a safer place and saved them from drowning,” he said, adding that it was no less than a miracle that they were alive.
He added that he has seven little children who have been rendered homeless as we don’t have any shelter where we can live.
He requested the district administration to compensate for his loss as he was not in a position to repair this houseboat.
