Inter college Table Tennis tourney begins at ICSC

SRINAGAR: Inter-College Table Tennis tournament begins at Islamia College of Science and Commerce(ICSC).
On the inaugural day five matches were played. In Women category – Govt Degree College, Tangmarg defeated Govt. Women College, Nawa-kadal by two straight sets. Govt. Degree College, Beerwah got better off Govt. Degree College, Bemina by two sets to one.
In Men Event, Govt. Degree College, Bemina beat Govt. Degree College, Beerwah by 2-0. Sri Pratap College, Srinagar got walk-over by Govt. Degree College, Anantnag. The day ended with an overwhelming win by Govt. College of Education over Govt. Degree College, Magam by not dropping any set.
Speaking on the inaugural ceremony of the tournament Principal, (ICSC) Prof (Dr.) Shiekh Ajaz Bashir emphasis on clarity, direction and encouragement as the ingredients that prompt the players to perform beyond their potential, participation being the sensible first step.
He directed the Sports Committee members to work alongside Physical Education Department to put in place the best possible arrangements to make visitors stay immaculate.
Around 21 teams from Degree Colleges are taking part in the week-long knockout tournament.
The tournament is organized by Physical Education Department and Sports of ICSC.
