Srinagar: Two training programmes were conducted simultaneously at KVK Kulgam onJalshaktiAbiyan (JSA-CTR) and ARYA. About175 farmers (men and women) attended the training programmes. Prof Dil Mohammed Makhdoomi, Director Extension, SKUAST Kashmir,was Chief Gueston the occasion. In his address Dr Makhdoomi stressed on the judicious use of water, conservation of natural water bodies, and springs and advised the farmers not to pollute the streams and water bodies.
He gave a brief lecture on how to keep the water bodies free from pollution. He also advised the rural youth and entrepreneurs to abide by the advices for profitable cultivation of crops and livestock given by the Kendra and directorate from time to time. Under ARYA about four hundred chicks / poultry birds and feed were distributed among the rural youth, who attended the training programmes under ARYA.
During the programme about nine quintals of Pea was also distributed among the farmers under CFLD pulse. Dr Manzoor A Ganai Senior Scientist & Head gave a brief address on package and practices of cultivation of the pea and also about the rain water harvesting“Catch the Rain” and then subsequent utilization of rain water for profitable cultivation in crops and home use. Dr Abdul Shakoor SMS Soil Science welcomed the Chief Guest and introduced the guest to the farmers and rural youth and Dr Shahid Ahmad Concluded the programme by providing vote of thanks.
