World White Cane Safety Day celebrated at Anantnag

ANANTNAG: On eve of World White Cane Safety Day 2022, an awareness programme about inclusive Election was organised at Zaiba Aapa Institute of inclusive Education Bijbehara under the aegis of SVEEP.
The programme was organised by Humanity Welfare organisation Helpline in collaboration with District Election office Anantnag and District Social Welfare Officer. Deputy District Election Officer Nazia Hassan presided over the programme.
Deputy District Election Officer, Nazia Hassan gave complete knowledge on the process of summary revision and aims and objectives of inclusive election. She assured that all facilities notified by the Election Commission for inclusion of voters with disabilities shall be in place for the elections.
Dr. Arshad Ahmad from DIET Anantnag gave a holistic view about ethical electioneering. He defined connectivity of millennium development goals with National Education Policy. He also gave knowledge about the electoral process for persons with Disabilities under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation.
Dr Basit Naik Assistant Professor Women’s Studies Department University of Kashmir gave a presentation on the importance of accessibility for persons with Disabilities in elections.
Javed Ahmad Tak Honorary Chairman Humanity Welfare Organisation Helpline gave awareness on World White Cane Safety day and said that the election department should implement all facilities in favour of voters with Disabilities in district Anantnag. He also gave his suggestions for better implementation.
On the occasion, a special camp for inclusion of PWD voters was also organised and some on spot inclusions of PWD voters were also done apart from other activities
Apart from Election officials / Revenue officials of Tehsil Bijbehara, people from the Public Works Department, Principals from Government Higher secondary schools, Boys and Girls Bijbehara and Zonal Education officer Bijbehara were present in the programme.
