SRINAGAR: In a pioneer initiative, Directorate of Extension/SAMETI celebrated the World Rabies Day today as on September 28, 2022. Beginning of the workshop started with a rally in Shalimar Campus, SKUAST-K led by Vice Chancellor SKUAST-K, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai and Director Extension, Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi.
The participants included Scientists from the Directorate of Extension, Diploma Extension students, representatives of the farmer fraternity and students of SKUAST-K numbering more than 250.
The rally started from Vice Chancellors Office and concluded at Directorate of Extension where the participants assembled in the Hall. Prof. ShobhaNagnur, Dean US Dhawadwas Chief Guest of the function.Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K impressed upon the need to take stringent steps against the stray dog menace in SKUAST-K. Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi gave an elaborate account on the harmful implications of Rabies, its patho-physiology, treatment and control strategy and suggested comprehensive ways and measures to eradicate the menace. The audience were given awareness through a presentation by Director Extension and a film on clinical manifestation of rabies was displayed in the Hall to sensitize the audience about prevention of this dangerous disease.The day long deliberation ended with vote of thanks by Prof. Purshotam Singh, Professor (Agronomy), Directorate of Extension.
