6 Day Basic Emergency Care (BEC) Course cum Workshop begins at JSSC, RIHFW Nagrota

JAMMU: A Six Day Basic Emergency Care (BEC) Course-cum-Workshop was organised today by Jammu Skill & Simulation Centre (JSSC) was inaugurated by Director Health Services Jammu Dr. Saleem Ur Rehman, in presence of Deputy Director Health (Hq), Dr Deepak Kapoor at Regional institute of Health & Family Welfare (RIHFW) Nagrota, Jammu.
The BEC Course includes hands-on training sessions. As many as 13 Medical Officers working in the Emergency Resuscitation Rooms of Health institutions in Jammu Division have been invited to participate in the training programme.
Director Health Services Jammu interacted with the participants during the live demonstration exercise conducted by the Master Trainer (MT), he stressed upon the participant medical officers to understand the importance of various steps of Basic Emergency Care training which shall help them to handle the medical emergencies in real time situation to save precious life of human being. He further advised the participants to evolve innovations at their work place to further strengthen the Emergency Resuscitation facilities recently added to different peripheral health institutions to avoid unnecessary referrals of the patients without any intervention or treatment and also to conduct the similar training sessions to sensitize the other hospital staff dealing with the emergencies.
The Director Health Services Jammu Dr. Saleem- Ur- Rehman lauded the role of MTs for putting in sincere efforts to train the participants. He appreciated the overall management of Dr Manoj Bhagat, Principal, RIHFW & JSSC and Rajeev Gupta, Simulation Lab Coordinator for organizing the training on a short notice.
Dr Shelly Mahajan, renowned Anaesthesiologist, a State Trainer of Health Department (Jammu Division), along with Dr Omer Ashraf, BEC Trainer and Parthasarthy Vijayan, BEC IV Laster Trainer from Chennai, shall conduct the training sessions through lecture, demonstration, small group discussions and powerpoint presentation as well as simulation based hands on training to the participant medical officers with the prime aim to equip them to practice all emergency resuscitation steps including Air way management during emergent crises.
The live demonstration during the training program shall be conducted under the supervision of Dr. Vlanoj Bhagat, Principal RIHFW & Jammu Skill & simulation centre Nagrota and Rajeev Gupta in-charge coordinator of skill lab.
