Urs of Sheikh Sharif Ud Din alias Shokh Baba Sahab observed at Pampore

PAMPORE: The annual Urs of renowned Sufi saint Hazrat Sheikh Sharif-Ud-Din Wali (RA) popularly known as Shokh Bab Sahab was observed with religious fervor at his shrine at Namblabal in Saffron town Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday.
A number of devotees from Pampore areas and other parts of valley assemble on at the Shrine of Hazrat Sheikh Sharif-Ud-Din (RA) in the Saffron town, to observe the 417th Urs of the Sufi saint Shokh Bab Sahab.
The devotees including women, men, children and elders were seen paying obeisance and offering special prayers at the shrine.
The relics of Shokh Bab Sahab where displayed on the occasion after Fajar, Zuhar, Asar and Magrib Prayers in the day.
During the three days of Urs, majority people in Pampore and adjoining villages turn vegetarian and do not eat meat or chicken, Mohammad Maqbool Shah President IAIT Pampore told Kashmir Reader.
Earlier, Urs of renowned Sufi saint Hazrat Khwaja Masood Wali (RA) popularly known as Khuja Sahab observed at his shrine at Namblabal Pampore on September 02.
A number of devotees from different parts of the valley thronged the shrines of Khuja Sahab and Shokh Baba Sahab where they recited Quran and later joined Khatam-e-Sharif, Naatia Majlis and supplications.
The Idara Auqaf Islamia Trust Pampore organised a Seerat Conference at Khanqah-e-Moula Pampore on these days.
During the two Urs Paak of Hazrat Kwaja Masood Wali (RA) and Hazrat Sheikh Sharif Ud Din and the people of Saffron town Pampore areas especially living nearer to the Shokh Bab Sahib and Khuja Sahab shrine use to cook dried vegetables, eggs, cheese and other food stuff except meat on the Urs of Shokh Bab Sahib and Khuja Sahab and invite their relatives, friends on lunch or dinner to keep the tradition of saint alive.
