Free diagnostic camp for employees held at KU

Srinagar: The department of Clinical Biochemistry, University of Kashmir, on Monday organised a free diagnostic-cum-screening camp in collaboration with University Health Centre for the varsity employees.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Nilofer Khan visited the camp, organised by the department as its annual feature, and expressed her satisfaction over active involvement of the department’s students in the pro-employees endeavour.
Asserting that such programmes should also be held outside the university for common people in no-profit no-loss basis, Prof Nilofer said the initiative could vastly benefit the student community and the department to develop a strong societal connect.
“I would urge the department to hold a similar programme in collaboration with other concerned departments like Home Sciences and Social Work as a public outreach activity, which is one among primary mandates of the University,” she said, congratulating the department for holding the programme.
Registrar Dr Nisar A Mir, Dean School of Biological Sciences Prof Zafar A Reshi and other officials of the University were present on the occasion. Registrar, Central University of Kashmir, Prof Mohammad Afzal Zargar also graced the event.
Head of the Department, Dr Fouzia Rashid, thanked the University officials for their participation and reiterated that the department shall work hard for extending this facility to society in accordance with the department’s core objectives.
The panel of tests in the free diagnostic camp included Blood Glucose (Fasting), LFT panel, KFT panel, Lipid profile, CB and Serology (Hepatitis B & C).
About 110 participants pre-registered online for the camp, with 80 on spot registrations.
