BANDIPORA: The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Bandipora today organized a daylong programme regarding “National Campaign on Poshan Abhiyan and Tree Plantation” at KVK Campus, here.
The programme was organised in collaboration with IFFCO in which more than 100 farmers, farm women and rural youth from different parts of district Bandipora participated.
Programme Coordinator, Dr Tariq Sultan highlighted the importance of a balanced diet for protection against the non-communicable diseases prevalent in the world. He stressed upon the need to incorporate nutri-cereals and millets in the diet.
Dr Tahir Saleem, Vegetable Scientist gave a detailed presentation on nutritional security, nutri-garden and role of bio-fortified varieties in human diet.
In the event Dr Arif Hussain Wani, Scientist Floriculture and Landscaping at Faculty of Agriculture Wadura interacted with participants and emphasized on plantation of ornamental and fruit saplings for environmental conservation.
Few participants also shared their views regarding problems faced by the farming community in the district.
Field tour of the KVK farm was also organized in which participants were shown demonstration plots of high yielding crop varieties.
Later in the event vegetable seed packets were distributed among the participants.
