Field Day organised by DARS Rangreth SKUAST Kashmir

Srinagar: A Field Day was organised by Dryland Agriculture Research Station, SKUAST-K on 29th of August, 2022 at Rangreth, Srinagar. The programme was hosted by Prof. A. A. Lone, senior Scientist (Pulses). Prof. Zahoor A. Dar, Associate Director Research gave a brief introduction of mandate crops of DARS. Prof. Raihana Habib, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Wadura appraised farmers regarding newly released varieties, their behaviour and potential. She emphasized on the farmers to adopt a package of practices for dryland crops for different management practices to achieve maximum yield under rainfed conditions.
Prof. D. M. Makhdoomi, Director Extension of the University was guest of honour. He briefed the farmers regarding outreach programmes of the university to help farmers get familiar with university released varieties and technology thereof.
Prof. Sarfaraz A. Wani, Director Research of the Varsity, who was Chief Guest on the occasion, praised farmers regarding activities of SKUAST-K for doubling the farmer’s income. He highlighted that the University has developed more than 102 varieties of different crops and stressed upon fodder production. He congratulated the DARS team for arranging this Field day with great success.
The programme was attended by different HOD’s of SKUAST-K, representatives from CITH, NBPGR, IGFRI and farmers from district Budgam facilitated by KVK Budgam.
The programme ended by vote of thanks by Prof. F. A. Bahar, Professor (Agronomy). A field visit was arranged for the participating farmers by DARS scientists to showcase the experimental trials.
