Novelty FC wins edge past over Syed FC in summit clash

PAMPORE: Novelty Football Club on Thursday night beat Syed Football Club in penalty shootout in the final match of Iqbal Football tournament played here at Sports Stadium Pampore.
Both the teams were unable to score in the scheduled time after which the game went into extra time. In extra time both the teams failed to open their account and the score line remained 0-0 when the final whistle blew.
Later the match was decided through penalty shoot out, where Novelty FC kept their nerve and converted their all the five penalty kicks into goals while Syed FC missed the decisive final penalty kick and Novelty FC won the summit clash with the scoreline 5-4 goals.
Saqib Ahmad was declared man of the match and Gowhar Khanday declared man of the tournament
A decent number of spectators from different areas of Pampore had turned up to watch the summit clash which was played under floodlights.
Around 32 teams from different areas of the valley participated in the tournament.
The 7A side tournament was organised by local youths of the Pampore area.
The organiser of the tournament told Kashmir Reader that such activities keep local youth from drug addiction and other immoral things.
Tehsildar Pampore Zuber Ahmad Bhat and Tehsildar Waqf Board J&K served as chief guests, while as, senior football player Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, Adnan Shah, Gowhar Amaan, Adv Tasaduq was the guest of honours.
The chief guests and other guests distributed prizes among the winners and runner Up teams.
The winner team was awarded a trophy and a cash amount of rupees 10 thousand while as runner up team was given a trophy and cash of rupees five thousand.
