KVK Ganderbal Organised Plant Health Camp at Kirmaniyabad Batwina

SRINAGAR: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Ganderbal organized a day-long Plant Health Camp to address emerging Plant insect pest and diseases in Field and Horticultural cropsat Kirmaniyabad Batwina.
The programme was attended by line departments of Agriculture, Horticulture and Planning and Marketing Ganderbal along with Scientific team of KVK Ganderbal.More than fifty farmers from the District participated in the camp and furnished their inputs regarding various diseases and nutrient disorders prevalent in their fruit orchards, vegetables and field crops. Dr. Farooq Ahmad Ahanger, SMS (Plant Protection) assessed the plant diseased samples and furnished on spot remedies to them. He stressed on Integrated Disease / Nutrient Management for sustainable agriculture and horticulture ventures. He emphasized that the SKUAST-K Spray schedule must be followed religiously to prevent disease related losses.
DrEajaz Ahmad SMS Agronomy appraised the farmers about nutrient disorders and deficiency symptoms and probable measures to cure them. Horticulture Development Officer, Wakura & Agriculture Extension Officer Kurhama deliberated about the various Government schemes available for the benefit of farmers in the district. There was an extensive interactive session between the farmers and Scientists of KVK regarding the various field issues in horticulture crops and farmers were advised to undertake measures based scientific recommendations to reap long term benefits. Dr. Ishfaq Abidi Senior Scientist & Head, KVK while addressing the farmers stressed on integrated nutrient and pest management modules reduce input costs. He advised farmers to focus on organic input development and their subsequent use for sustainable soil and plant health. The farmers were informed about the FPOs (Farmers Produce Organization) andtheir utility in making horticulture/agriculture enterprises more profitable among the farming community. It was stressed upon the farmers to use modern technological inputs, farm machinery and frequent advisories by University/Departments to meet the challenges of climate change. The farmers acknowledged KVK Ganderbal for organizing the camp and hoped that more such camps should be organized so that farmers could harvest quality crops and fruits in the district.At the end Dr Rafiya Munshi SMS Home Science presented vote of thanks.
