PAMPORE: Srinagar Gymkhana beat Shopian warriors by 39 runs in the inaugural match of Khrew Premier League T20 Cricket Tournament played at Azad Stadium Khrew on Saturday.
Earlier, Secretary, J&K Sports Council Nuzhat Gul inaugurated the tournament
Speaking on the inaugural ceremony Secratary Sports Council Nuzhat Gul said that organizing such tournaments can provide a platform to the youth and also keep them away from drugs and other bad habits.
She announced turf wicket will be prepared and seating arrangement will be also provided at Azad stadium Khrew .
She also appreciated organizers and sponsors for promotion of sports and providing opportunities to sports loving youth to showcase their talent.
A total of 32teams from different districts of the Kashmir Valley will take part in the tournament. The teams would play about 90 matches over a span of 50 days and the final of the tournament would be held next month.
The winner of the tournament will get Rs four lakh and trophy while the runners-up will get Rs1,50,000, a organiser of the tournament Mohammad Mukaram revealed.
On the inaugural ceremony SDPO Pampore, Tehsildar Pampore, civil Society members, officials of Municipal Committee Khrew were also present on the occasion.
