Awareness Camp on PMFME scheme held at MF&VM Aglar Shopian

DC stresses on field functionaries to reach out to the farmers

SHOPIAN: As part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ initiative of government, an awareness camp on Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme was Saturday organized to reach out to the farming community at Mega Fruit and Vegetable Mandi (MF&VM) Aglar, here.
The awareness programme was organised by the Department of Area Marketing and Horticulture Shopian in collaboration with Fruit Growers Association Shopian.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kimar Vaishya was the Chief Guest at the event that was attended by a large number of orchardists and farmers besides staff of concerned departments.
In his address, the DC elaborated in detail about the incentives available under the various central and UT sponsored schemes of the department and urged the farmers to come forward, associate themselves with the concerned departments and avail the benefits of different schemes for upliftment of their socio-economic status.
He further stressed on the field functionaries to reach out to the farming community by holding awareness camps and special interaction sessions with the orchardists so that they are able to take advantage of the newly launched scheme.
Experts informed that more such camps will be held in the area to make the farmers especially orchardists aware about the latest and scientific technologies of farming to double their income.
President Fruit Growers Association, Mohammad Amin put forth some issues before the DC for early redressal which include Protection Bund of Mandi, Leaf & Soil Testing Laboratory, Transport Yard and filling of link roads.
Among others, Additional District Development Commissioner, Manzoor Hussain, CHO, AMO, CAHO, AD Fisheries, District officers of line departments, District Resources Person for PMFME scheme, President and office bearers of Fruit Growers Association, Shopian.
