10-day EDP on Agribusiness commences at SKUAST-K

Srinagar: A 10-days Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) on Comprehensive Agribusiness organised jointly by Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir and National Institute of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) commenced today virtually.
About 40 students of various faculties of SKUAST-K are participating in the entrepreneurship training conducted by NIESBUD, an autonomous Institute under Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, GoI.
The inaugural function was chaired by the Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K, Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai and Director, NIESBUD, Dr Poonam Sinha and was attended by Prof Azmat Alam Khan, OSD to Vice Chancellor, SKUAST K, Prof Raihana Habib Kanth, Dean FoA Wadura SKUAST K, Naveed Hamid, BDA I&E Cell, DK Singh, Chief Consultant, NIESBUD, PK Arora, Financial Advisor NIESBUD, Aijaz A Mir, State Consultant J&K UT, faculty members and the participating students.
The meeting was started with a brief note on Agribusiness and Opportunities by Naveed Hamid followed by opening remark by Director NIESBUD where she briefed the audience regarding the institute working model in Entrepreneurship and possible areas of collaboration with SKUAST Kashmir.
Prof Azmat Alam Khan deliberated on the need for such programmes for our students and how SKUAST K has earned brand equity in arena of Innovation, Incubation, Entrepreneurship and Startups. He further added that SKUAST K is ready for such collaborations in the near future where only goal is to sensitize the students and change their mindset from being job providers than job seekers.
Chief Consultant, NIESBUD shared his road map and vision to make this programme outcome-oriented and how we can change the mindset of students and inculcate the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship with such programmes.
Prof Raihana Habib Kanth, briefed the audience about the achievements of SKUAST Kashmir and next gen dimensions of agriculture so to turn it into successful agribusinesses.
The Vote of thanks was presented by Aijaz A Mir (NIESBUD) and the proceedings were conducted by Naveed Hamid of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Cell.
