Bandipora: Government Degree College Sumbal organised a valedictory function to encourage and appreciate students who participated in the week long celebrations in view of world environment day. I/C principal Prof. Huda Galzai was the chief guest on the occasion.
The principal distributed prizes among the students who had secured positions in different competitions organized during the week-long programme. Anissa Yousuf, a student of B A 2nd Semester got 1st position in Painting competition, while Seerat Irshad of 2nd semester secured second position and Nusrat Jan of 5th and Asmat Jan of 3rd semester secured 3rd positions.
Tabia Jan of B A second semester received 1st Position in slogan writing competition while Nissar Ahmad Dar a student of BA 5th semester bagged second position.
The meritorious students were felicitated with Certificates and trophies. Dr. Riffat Basharat, Assistant professor Chemistry acted as judge for these events. Valedictory was attended by Faculty members and a huge number of students. Dr. Aadil Mohi UD Din the NSS officer of the college carried out the proceedings of the event and also proved a brief report about the activities carried out by the NSS unit Throughout the week. Dr. Mehraj Hajini, staff secretary of the college presented a welcome address, While, Prof. Bashir Ahmad Khan, the acting principal of the college, presented introductory remarks.
Prof. Huda Galzai, in her presidential address, talked in detail about the aims and objectives and motives behind celebrating World Environment week. She stressed upon students to become ambassadors of Global initiatives to protect our environment and Earth. Prof. Galzai also appreciated the efforts of NSS Unit of the college for organizing such events in the college, she also assured full support for organizing more such programs, which are very much beneficial for both student community and general masses as well.
