Cultural Unit Sgr organizes Awareness Seminar/ Cultural programme on Drug Abuse at GBHSS Humhama

Conducts another awareness programme at GGHS Ompora

SRINAGAR: The Cultural Unit Srinagar of DIPR in collaboration with Government Boys Higher Secondary School (GBHSS) Humhama today organised an awareness seminar cum cultural programme on Drug Abuse at GBHSS Humhama, here.
On the occasion, Students, teachers and parents pledged to say no to drugs and play their part in ensuring an end to substance abuse.
During the programme, students spoke on rising incidents of drug consumption and addiction cases among collegians and schoolchildren over the past few years.
“We realised that most students using these drugs either do it because of peer pressure, if not depression and decided to nip this issue in the bud,” said the Principal, Saima Geelani.
Students presented colorful cultural programs including rouf, skit, and mono acting while as the artists of Cultural Unit Srinagar enthralled the audience by their impressive folk songs.
The Principal and promising performers were awarded by Cultural Unit Srinagar of DIPR in the categories of Singing, Acting and Speech respectively.
Another awareness programme was held at Government Girls High School (GGHS) Ompora Budgam organised by Cultural Unit Srinagar DIPR with the support of GHS Ompora where students and teachers threw light on the topic “Eat Right”.
Speakers highlighted the ill effects of junk food in tender age besides students presented thematic songs and skits. Mementos were distributed among the Headmistress, Ruqaya Parveen and performing students.
Meanwhile, Cultural Unit Srinagar of DIPR will continue to organise more such awareness programmes in different schools and colleges in future also.
