200 HESP scholarships to be awarded to meritorious poor, orphan students

Srinagar: Over 1200 students including 749 female students participated in the Entrance Test of J&K Yateem Foundation’s Higher Education Scholarship Programme (HESP) across Jammu & Kashmir. This includes over 50 non muslims students.
As many as 200 HESP Scholarships amounting to Rs 24 Lakhs shall be annually awarded to the meritorious poor & orphan students.
The Foundation had established 22 examination centers across J&K for the smooth conduct of the entrance test.
JKYF’s HESP Programme Executive Mohammad Anwar Malik said that the examination centers were also established near LoC at Gurez, Machhil, Teetwall and Rajouri.
He said that JKYF deputed over 250 volunteers to conduct the examination.
Giving details he informed that the question paper set for the examination was based on 9th and 10th class syllabus.
He further informed that the scholarship shall be awarded at Rs 12000 per annum to deserving poor and orphan students after qualifying the examination.
Chairman Mohammad Rafiq Lone commended the team work of HESP division of JKYF and applauded their hard work, dedication and sense of responsibility in the execution of entrance test in a smooth and hassle free manner.
The Chairman extended gratitude to district level administration, police and other organs of administration across all districts of J&K for their support. He thanked all volunteers of JKYF in making this huge exercise a great success.
The Chairman hoped that all the meritorious students would work hard with honesty and sincerity to pursue their career to make their lives better and contribute towards socio- economic development of all peoples in Jammu & Kashmir.
t is in place to mention that due to COVID protocols the entrance test for HESP could not be conducted during the past 2 years.
Hundreds of students have received scholarships under this programme and are currently contributing in different fields.
Meanwhile General secretary Mohammad Yaqoob Reshi , secretary finance Mohammad Ishaq Shiekh and other senior volunteers visited all the examination centers as micro observers and interacted with the students and the staff there.
