SKUAST Jammu, Kashmir enter into agreement with JK KVIB for setting up beekeeping clusters

SRINAGAR: A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed between J&K KVIB and SKUAST Jammu at SKUAST Kashmir for implementation of Jammu based three Beekeeping clusters. The MOA was signed by Chancellor Prof. J. P. Sharma on behalf of SKUAST Jammu and Secretary/CEO J&K KVIB Farrukh Qazi. Among others present were Dr Susheel Kumar Gupta, Registrar, SKUAST Jammu, Dr. S. A. Wani, Director Research, SKUAST Kashmir, Dr R K Salgotra, Coordinator, School of Biotechnology, Faculty and Officers of KVIB.
The objectives of the MoA are to empanel SKUAST Jammu as Technical Agency for three SFURTI Beekeeping Clusters in Jammu Division worth Rs. 4. 25 crores. By establishing these clusters around 500 beekeepers will be provided inclusive services like processing of honey, value addition of the by-products, testing facilities and skill development. Beyond this earning of the beekeepers will be enhanced by packaging and certification of honey through these clusters.
