Directorate of Extension SKUAST Kashmir intracts with farmers about the usage of Nano fertiliser

Srinagar: On the eve of inauguration of India’s first Nano Urea Plant at Kalol Gujarat by Prime MinisterNarendra Modi, Farmer-scientist Interface was held at Directorate of Extension, Shalimar and all the KVKs of SKUAST Kashmir under the supervision and Chairmanship of Worthy Director Extension Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi. Director Extension addressed 100 farmers and briefed about the importance of adoption of newer technologies like Nano fertilizers by the farmers for reaping maximum benefits without jeopardizing the environment including soil, plant, animal, water and human health. During the programme, some technologies developed by SKUAST Kashmir were also demonstrated to and discussed with the farmers. The expert scientists from Directorate of Extension Dr FarahNaz Rasool, Dr. Lyaqat Ali Choudhary, Dr. Purshotum Singh and Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Bhat apprised the farmers about mechanism of action, relative advantages, cost benefit analysis of nanotechnology. The participants watched the inauguration of world’s first nano urea plant at Gujarat by Hon’ble Prime minister.
On the occasion, free nano-urea 500 ml capacity provided by IFFCO were distributed among farmers by Director Extension. A quiz programme on use of pesticides, fertilizers, organic fertilizers and nano urea was held among farmers and were awarded.
