Srinagar: Police in Pulwama have recovered huge quantity of poppy straw in Litter area.
Police Station Litter received an information that a person namely Gulzar Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Nabi Bhat resident of Litter Pulwama has been indulged in drug peddling and has hoarded a large quantity of contraband substances at his residential house.
Acting swiftly, a Police Party from PS Litter alongwith concerned Magistrate conducted raid at a specific location. During search 15 Kgs of Poppy Straw was recovered from the said residential house. However, the accused person has managed to escape from the spot and efforts are on to effect his arrest.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 47/2022 under relevant sections of law. has been registered in Police Station Litter and investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddler in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddler should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
