Training workshop on advanced experimental techniques begins at NIT Srinagar

Students should take benefit of such training programs: Director

Srinagar: Seven-day-long training cum hands-on program on advanced experimental techniques for Materials Science began at the National Institute of Technology on Friday.
The program is organized by the P G Department of Physics, in collaboration with BanasthaliVidyapith, Rajasthan under Synergistic Training Program Utilizing the Scientific and Technological Infrastructure (STUTI) and is supported by DST, Govt. of India.
The inaugural session of the workshop was presided over by Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Sehgal, while Prof. M Chalkoo, from GMC Srinagar, delivered a lecture on new instruments for surgery.

Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. Sehgal expressed his gratitude to the r. M Ikram Department of Physics for organizing such programs. He acknowledged and appreciated the collaboration of Banasthali Vidyapith University for such initiative.
Prof. Sehgal urged participants to take benefit of such programs. If our students can do that then it will be their biggest contribution to the entire country, he said.
Institute’s Registrar, Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari said during the last four years, under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Rakesh Sehgal, NIT Srinagar is taking lead on all fronts by organizing various workshops, expert lectures and international conferences.
“We organized more than 30 workshops and half a dozen international conferences during the past couple of years,” he said.
Prof. Bukhari congratulated Dr Shah HoD Physics and the conveners for making this program successful. The department has received accolades under his mentorship.
In his keynote address, Dean Research & Consultancy, Prof. (Dr.) M.F Wani delivered his lecture on a lecture on nano-composites thin films for tri-biology.
He also extended his warm greetings to Dr. Shah and his team getting the prestigious project. Such projects are taking the institute to new heights in the field of academics and research,” Prof. Wani said.
HOD Physics and Chairman of Program, Dr. MA Shah said the aim of the program is to make aware students and faculty about the program.
“It will be proper to receive feedback from the participants every evening and assured to make this program fruitful,” he said.
Dr. Shah also expressed his gratitude to DST New Delhi.
“I am proud to share that we have been assigned to carry three STUTI programs, the first one started on Friday i e 20th May 2022 in collaboration with Banasthali Vidyapith,” he said.
The Second and third Program is with Punjab University and Aligarh Muslim University, respectively, for which the Convener is Dr Vijay.
Prof. (Dr) Danish Ahmad from Civil engineering, who is also known as a patent man of NIT Srinagar spoke about the importance of the training. He also laid about the importance of filing patents and urged young faculty members to go for patents.
Earlier, the Convener and coordinator of the program, Prof M Ikram presented a detailed description of the STUTI. He addressed the guests, delegates, and participants.
On the occasion, Prof. P A Alvi, Dr Negi and Saral PMU coordinator, Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan give a small introduction about the STUTI program and explained its importance one by one.
A team of professors from Banasthali who are collaborators spoke during the event and acknowledged the efforts of Dr. Shah and his faculty.
“We are thankful to the Department of Science and Technology for the prestigious grant,” he said.
Dr. Saral K. Gupta, coordinator, BanasthaliVidyapith, Rajasthan presented some glimpses of the STUTI Program.
Dr. C. M. S. Negi, coordinator of Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan conveyed STUTI program message.
A formal vote of thanks was presented by the Co-Convener of the event, Prof. Seemin Rubab. She expressed her gratitude to the guest expert and all participants, for making the event successful. Active participation of all faculty members Prof Prince, Dr. Vijay, Dr Zubair and Dr. Harkirat, scholars and students were acknowledge and appreciated.
The staff of the department has been involved in many arrangements. The proceedings were carried out by Ms. Durakhshan Ashraf Qadir, Ms. Surbhi Rajpoot and Ms Tanzeela.
