Anjuman Auqaf pays tributes to Mirwaiz Farooq

Srinagar: Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid Srinagar paid rich tributes to its founder Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq (RA) on his 32nd year of martyrdom, saying the tireless efforts of the Shaheed-e-Millat (RA) to spread the universal, humane and revolutionary message and call of Islam in Jammu and Kashmir for the three consecutive decades, despite facing obstacles and difficulties, is highly commendable and unforgettable.
The Anjuman in a statement said that Shaheed-e-Millat (RA) with his attractive and charming personality and benevolent efforts discharged all his responsibilities as the Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir with utmost dedication, especially the duty of propagating Qaal Allah Wa Qaala Rasool (SAW) from the pulpit and mihrab of the historic Jama Masjid Srinagar.
The Shaheed-e-Millat’s invaluable reformative, social and scholarly services to Kashmiri society through its writings and speeches is a matter of pride for Millat-e-Kashmir, the Anjuman said.
The statement said that the pulpit and mihrab of Jama Masjid Srinagar remained silent from 1947 to 1963 after the Hijrat of Mufassir-e-Qur’an Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Moulana Muhammad Yousuf Shah (RA) and this central place of worship was leaderless It was Shaheed-e-Millat (RA) who started his mission with utmost wisdom and prudence when the official responsibilities of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir were placed on his shoulders.
The invaluable services rendered by Shaheed-e-Millat (RA) in making the Jama Masjid self-sufficient and its construction and renovation by laying the foundation of Anjuman Auqaf to restore the greatness and glory of this central place of worship of Muslims is unforgettable in every respect, it said.
The statement said that the dream of Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq (RA) to establish an Islamic research centre, a grand library, a lodge and religious schools under the Anjuman remained unfulfilled due to unfavourable conditions and his sudden martyrdom.
However, the present head of the Anjuman Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, with the support of Allah Almighty and fellow Kashmiris, is trying his best to fulfill that dream, In Sha Allah.
The statement said that a dignified Qur’an recitation ceremony was held at the historic Mirwaiz Manzil today for the elevation of the ranks of the Shaheed-e-Millat (RA) and all other martyrs.
The event was attended by leading Ulema, Mashaa’ikh, Aima and distinguished teachers and students of various Darul Ulooms and religious institutions.
