CUK, NIELIT ink Memorandum of Understanding

Ganderbal: Central University of Kashmir (CUK) Tuesday inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), to partnership in innovation and entrepreneurship driven opportunities and resources in order to launch skill oriented courses in line with the Government of India’s vision of Skill India, Digital India and Make in India.
The MoU was signed by Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar and Executive Director, NIELIT J&K, Deepak Wasan, in the presence of Controller of Examinations, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Mir, Dean School of Engineering & Technology, Dr. M Ahsan Chishti, Dean School of Education, Prof. Syed Zahoor Geelani, and other functionaries of CUK and NIELIT.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. M Afzal Zargar said the objective of this collaboration is to provide opportunity for global experience and to facilitate the advancement of knowledge on the basis of reciprocity, best effort, mutual benefit and frequent interactions. “The MoU will aim to create the best academic and industry content for educating local talent attuned to the local requirements in advanced technologies with an emphasis upon employability enhancement,” he said. Prof. Zargar further said that Joint Certification Training programmes in the niche areas would be conducted and both the institutions would identify social problems for collaborative research work to find solutions. He hoped that the MoU would provide different avenues for the students and scholars of computer science.
Addressing the gathering, Executive Director, NIELIT J&K, Mr. Deepak Wasan, said, the government run institutions must collaborate and extend their association so that the premier institutions can contribute towards skilling and up-skilling of the students enrolled in various programmes. He said the MoU is for fostering collaboration and to facilitate the advancement of knowledge on the basis of reciprocity, best effort, mutual benefit and frequent interactions.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. M Ahsan Chishti, said, the institution will explore the possibility of engaging in the areas of collaboration like exchange of intellectual know how and resources, partnership in innovation and entrepreneurship driven opportunities and resources, sharing of network and infrastructure resources, partnership of collaborative consulting and research projects. “Both the institutes will work jointly to establish academic, network and research co-operation in general and to co-operate on the activities set forth in the MoU,” he added.
Assistant Prof. Er Afaq Alam conducted the programme proceedings while as Er. Zahoor Ahmad Nagar, proposed the vote of thanks.
