Kisan Melas held at KVK Ganderbal, Budgam

Srinagar: KVK Ganderbal organized Kisan Mela (Farmers fair) at KVK campus in collaboration with ATMA of the district on 26th April 2022 as part of the Kisan Bhagidari-Prathmikta Hamari Campaign during Aazadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The Mela was inaugurated by Director Research, Prof. S.A.Wani along with Dean, FVSc&AH, Shuhama, Prof. M.T.Banday and Head KVK, Dr. J.A.Bhat. On national level the Minister of Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare in virtual mode inaugurated the programme. Farmers from different locations of the district participated in the Mela. Stalls were displayed by Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Faculty of Fisheries and all Line Departments of the district along with private entrepreneurs.
Latest technologies/seeds, vegetable seedlings were also available for display and sale purposes. An interactive session between scientists and farmers was also conducted to aware the farming community regarding the schemes available with the Line Department and the avenues available for the entrepreneurship development. Technical sessions regarding management of diseases in dairy, sheep, poultry, fisheries and horticulture were also conducted to help farmers to gain knowledge to manage their enterprises. A brief discussion regarding marketing techniques in horticulture, fisheries, apiculture and mushroom cultivation was also held.
While felicitating the six progressive farmers from different enterprises of the district Chief Guest Prof. Sarfaraz A. Wani (Director Research) encouraged farmers to collaborate with University and Line Departments for entrepreneurship development and doubling farmers income. He also stressed upon to conduct more collaborative programmes between Line Departments and KVK.
Meanwhile in Budgam organized One day KisanMela(Farmers Fair) at KVK campus in collaboration with ATMA of the District Budgam on 26th of April 2022 (Tuesday) as part of the Kisan Bhagidari Prathmikta Hamaari campaign under AazadiKa Amrit Mohatsav. Chief Horticulture Officer Budgam, Javid Ahmad, Head IMD SKUAST-K, Dr. Sameera Qayoom, Chief Executive Officer Khyber Green Pvt. Ltd., IqbalMirza, SDAO Budgam, Shafaat Ahmad Raja, officers of the Line Departments, Sr. Scientist & Head KVK Budgam, Dr. Nasir A. Dar and Scientific Staff of the Kendra were among the participants.
More than 300 farmers from different areas of District Budgam were also present on the occasion. Around 15 stalls displaying different exhibits of agriculture and allied sectors were also setup at the venue.
The event started with the welcome address given by Dr.Mir Nadeem Hassan, Scientist Animal Science KVK Budgam. During the programme, Dr. Nasir A. Dar, Sr. Scientist & Head KVK Budgam gave a brief overview of the programme. CEO Khyber Green Pvt. Ltd. discussed about the private public partnership mode of working for the benefit of the farming community and to address the challenges of feed and fodder scarcity in the valley. Chief Horticulture Officer Budgam also interacted with the farmers.
Head IMD SKUAST-K gave brief technical inputs information about oilseeds to the participants. SDAO Budgam deliberated upon the different government sponsored schemes in agriculture sector. During the programme, 11 progressive farmers of the District were also felicitated with mementoes and certificates by the Kendra.
Producer Krishi Darshan and Reporter Gulistan News Channel were also felicitated during the event. Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Bhinish Shakeel, Scientist Home Science KVK Budgam.
