SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Contractors Coordination Committee has called for protest on Tuesday across Jammu and Kashmir over the introduction of new norms for renewal of Cards of contractors.
The committee in its statement has called upon its functionaries to hold protest at all the divisions across Jammu and Kashmir. The statement added that the government is unnecessarily delaying the renewal of cards and has put forth a number of requirements for the renewal that also includes clearance from police.
The committee Chairman Ghulam Jeelani Purza has urged the authorities to withdraw such unnecessary requirements and immediately renew the cards of contractors across Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that new norms are not acceptable to them and they will protest any such moves that are only aimed at delaying the renewal of cards of contractors, putting them in great distress. The statement added that after Eid the contractors will jointly push forward their demands including their pending payments and even will go for enmass stoppage of all developmental works across Jammu and Kashmir.
