Another drug peddler booked under PSA

Srinagar: Police have arrested 02 notorious drug peddlers in Kupwara and recovered contraband substances from their possession. Besides, booked another drug peddler under PSA.
Based on specific input about drug peddling, a police party from Police Post Drugmulla led by SHO PS Kupwara SI Rafiq Lone at a checkpoint established at Bumhama near FCI in presence of concerned Magistrate intercepted a person identified as Ashiq Ahmad Rather son of Habibullah Rather resident of Kandi. During checking, officers were able to recover 200 grams of Charas like substance from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Meanwhile in another action, a police party of PS Kupwara at a checkpoint established at Regipora crossing intercepted a suspicious person identified as Waseem Ahmed Kaboo son of Farooq Ahmed kaboo resident of Maratgaam, Handwara. During checking, officers were able to recover 20 grams of brown sugar like substance from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. During questioning the accused person disclosed that he was contacted by some drug addicts of Kupwara area to deliver the drugs.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station Kupwara and further investigations in the cases are going on and more arrests are expected.
Moreover, another drug peddler identified as Hilal Rashid Khan son of Abdul Rashid Khan resident of Maidanpora Lolab was today detained under Public Safety Act by Kupwara Police after obtaining sanctions from the concerned authorities. He was involved in peddling of narcotics and other criminal cases in the jurisdiction of Police Station Lalpora Kupwara. Apart from his involvement in several FIRs, the accused had created an atmosphere of terror and fear among general public of the area.
