Body of Pulwama missing man recovered from Jehlum

PAMPORE: Body of Pulwama elderly missing man, was recovered from river Jehlium at Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday nearly a month after he went missing.
The body of a 63 years old missing man was found in river Jhelum at Awantipora area.
The deceased was identified as Abul Gani Bhat son of Mohammad Sideeq, a resident of Sonasamil Rajpora, Pulwama.
The deceased was missing from February 15 from his home about 2:pm, family members told Kashmir Reader, he said that the deceased was a retired employee of Power Development department.
Locals told Kashmir Reader that some people while extracting sand from river Jhelum found a body near Tehsil office area of Awantipora and accordingly informed police in this regard.
Soon after the incident police Awantipora reached the spot and shift the body sub District Hospital Pampore for postmortem.
A police officer told Kashmir Reader that the body of a 63-year-old missing man was fished out from the river Jhelum near Tehsil office Awantipora on Saturday around 11:am.
The body has been shifted from the site and taken to Sub District Hospital Pampore for medical examination, he said.
The deceased was identified as Abul Gani Bhat son of Mohammad Sideeq, a resident of Sonasamil Rajpora, Pulwama
After conducting autopsy at SDH Pampore, the body has been handed over to legal heirs for last rites.
Awantipora Police has taken cognizance in this regard.
