DARS, SKUAST-K holds tribal farmers field day at KVK Ganderbal

Srinagar: A day long training programme under Tribal Sub Plan of AICRP Pulses was organized by Dry Land Agriculture Research Station, Rangreth in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra Ganderbal for tribal farmers of Distt. Ganderbal at KVK Ganderbal The programme saw participation of more than 25 tribal farmers with the event sponsored by IIPR Kanpur.
Prof. Sarfaraz A Wani , Director Research , SKUAST-Kashmir was the Chief Guest on the occasion. He emphasized farmers to adopt the technologies provided by SKUAST-Kashmir for improving their livelihood. He inspired the farmers to undertake natural farming and make them self-sufficient. During the occasion, one publication on Pulse Cultivation Guide for Valley Farmers in Urdu was released and distributed among farmers.
Head KVK Ganderbal, Dr. Javaid A Bhat and PI AICRP pulses Dr. Ajaz A. Lone briefed the farmers about the programmes and the importance of the ongoing schemes. Farmers expressed happiness for conducting such type of training and desired to participate in more such programmes in future and also provided feedback regarding their challenges in their existing agricultural practices.
During the programme, Pulse seed bags, vermicompost, bio-fertilizer and farming tool kits were distributed among the farmers. The programme incharge TSP pulses Dr Latief Ahmad also interacted with the farmers and gave his valuable inputs about scientific cultivation of various crops feasible to dry land areas.
The programme was concluded by vote of thanks presented by Dr. P.A.Dar, SMS(A.S), KVK Ganderbal.
